Overview
Course Description:
In today’s lawsuit-prone society, tort liability claims against state and local governments are on the rise. An adverse judgment can be devastating to a county, city, or township. To satisfy an adverse judgment, the community often must reduce the level of service or increase taxes. Responsibility for reducing risk must be assumed at all levels within street and road departments. This workshop will provide crew members and supervisors with a basic understanding of tort liability and risk management. This course has been designed for Kansas County, city, and township crews and supervisors who have transportation-related responsibilities. Elected officials, city and county attorneys, managers, engineers, and road supervisors will also find this information helpful.
